Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Wideband (Satellite Communications) Orbital Analyst trainer and Subject Matter Expert. Orbital Analyst (OA) will provide on-site system technical support to perform Orbital Analyst (OA) functions for the Wideband (WGS) satellites on the Command Control Systems Consolidated (CCS-C) ground system. OA will support 24/7 on-call with satellite anomaly resolution, software and hardware validation, training, and procedure development. Daily customer interface and reporting will be required as well as potential travel to a backup location.

This position will be responsible for the following:

  • Train new team members and military to become OA certified.
  • Evaluate spacecraft performance and perform required tasks to maintain the health of the satellite constellation. This may include orbit determinations, maneuver planning, and/or repositioning actions.
  • Assist with performing satellite and orbit anomaly resolution actions to ensure the continued maximum mission utilization of the satellite constellation.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures and tools to maximize the support for the satellite operators, satellite engineers, and mission planners.
  • Complete trending and analysis with the satellite, orbit, attitude, and close approach data.
  • Analyze and validate software and hardware updates to ensure they meet mission performance and fulfill mission requirements.
  • Perform necessary reporting processes and procedures per the government guidelines.
  • Interact with government customer and other outside agencies.
  • Express ideas, concepts, and solutions to a variety of problems to leadership, customers, and peers for informed decision making on conjunctions, anomalies, working groups, and other troubleshooting tasks.
  • Satellite familiarization, including bus and payload of DoD (GPS, DSCS, WGS, Milstar, AEHF, SBSS, ORS-5, Etc), NRO, and/or commercial satellites.
  • Support 24/7 on-call including holidays and weekends.
  • Potential travel to the back-up location on an as needed basis.


Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience: 0 years’ experience with BS/BA, 2 years’ experience with AS degree or 2 years technical training. In lieu of degree, 4 years of related experience may be considered.
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, and up to a TS/SCI.


DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of Basic Orbital Mechanics Concepts
  • Knowledge of Protected SATCOM
  • Knowledge of CCS-C
  • Knowledge of Freeflyer, STK, ODTK or other Orbital Analysis tools
  • Experience in Multi-Functional Organizations
  • Training Development/Implementation experience is highly desired
  • Previous DoD or Air Force/Space Force experience is highly desired
  • Intelligence community Experience.
  • This position prefers the candidate to already have a current Secret security clearance.

Target Salary Range

$39,000 – $62,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
