Full job description
Auria is looking to hire an experienced Network Engineer with a strong background in DoD network security and testing complex environments to support the development and deployment of the Protected Tactical Enterprise System (PTES). The PTES program is developing a new Global Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Ground System that will manage transmission of protected tactical waveform – a type of secure, anti-jam communication – over Boeing-built Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellites and terminals. As a member of the PTES team, you will be involved in the entire software development life cycle, from idea creation and development, all the way through to maintenance and support of the customer’s delivered system. These positions will place you in roles where you can make an impact on the results of our project. The PTES team offers a collaborative mentoring environment where you could learn from or lead others.
The engineer will be supporting different cloud computing environments (AWS GovCloud, DoD Cloud/VMWare NSX, and physical environments) working with teams implementing and verifying network settings across the program, including testing, and assisting with maintenance of network devices.
Primary Location: Boeing Mission Operations Support Center (BMOSC), 440 Wooten Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80916
- Work Model: This position is expected to be Hybrid 3+ day per week onsite.

Essential Functions
- Define and integrate the end-end communications and networking systems architecture for a space system.
- Provide technical flow down of systems requirements to several spacecraft and ground subsystems.
- Own end-end analyses for the end-end communications link.
- Partner with customers on system of systems solutions.
- Support a team of Systems Engineers for the development requirements for innovative projects, use cases and sequence diagrams and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for complex space and ground architectures.
- Support planning for and execution of subsystem and vehicle-level integration and test campaign.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines in an integrated team environment to develop system architecture in compliance with interface definitions and system/subsystem requirements.
- Support stakeholder needs through analysis, technical performance measures (TPM) definition, requirements analysis, and allocation & definition for subcontractors, utilizing MBSE Enterprise Architect, JIRA and Confluence
- Integrate security principles into the development and deployment of software/hardware solutions.
- Support Network Integration with both software and hardware teams.
- Risk Management Framework (RMF): Designs and facilitates implementation of security controls IAW NIST SP 800-53 and SP 800-171. Documents hardware, software, system components, and data flow as required to complete RMF System Security Plans. Develop and maintain training plans, records, and training.
- Travel to support installation and testing of new network site connections.

Basic Qualifications
- Active U.S. SECRET Security Clearance
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to dive deep into troubleshooting a problem.
- 5+ years of experienced with General Networking experience (e.g., debugging, packet captures with Wireshark, Routing, VLAN, firewall rules).
- 5+ years of experience with Switches, Routers and Firewalls (Cisco & FortiGate)
- 5+ years of experience with Ixia Network Traffic Generator.
- 5+ years of experience with QoS and traffic policing.
- 5+ years of experience with IPSEC tunnels.
- 3+ years of experience working with JIRA, confluence, bitbucket.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in Network Engineering on aerospace platforms or similar highly regulated products.
- 5+ years of experience with requirements development, verification, validation, ICDs, risk, issues and opportunities management and trade studies.
- Experience with spacecraft and/or space systems architecture.
- Experience utilizing Model Based Engineering (MBE or MBSE) tools such as Enterprise Architect.
- Familiarity with Protected Tactical Waveform (PTW) desired.
Salary Range:$94,000 – $145,000
- Engineer Level 3: Typically, a Bachelor’s degree and six or more years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with three years of experience
- Engineer Level 4: Typically, a Bachelor’s degree and 11 or more years of experience or Master’s with eight or more years of experience
