The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a SATCOM Tech II to support our government customer located in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Under limited supervision, the incumbent, sets up, packs-up, configures, operates, and maintains Satellite Terminals (fixed and tactical) along with associated assemblies and provides technical assistance and training to users for this program.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as a hands-on, working shift for configuration, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of SOC-E SATCOM Terminals.
  • Installs equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications – Interprets maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Converses with customer, co-workers or supervisor on equipment configuration and provides instruction on operation of equipment.
  • Consults with unit co-workers to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
  • May advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements.
  • Assist co-workers in servicing and repairing SATCOM related equipment and/or items.
  • Assists in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies.
  • Consults with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance – May instruct workers in electronic theory.
  • May assist supervisor in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in support of a safe working environment.
  • Perform all other position related duties, as assigned, or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting up to 75 pounds, kneeling, standing, and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Associate degree in one or more engineering or science disciplines or equivalent combination of academic and/or technical training and related work experience or equivalent combination technical and military experience. (Bachelor’s degree is preferred in a related discipline.)
  • Must possess a current state issued driver’s license.
  • Possess Comp TIA Security+ Certification.
  • Possess and maintain a DoD 8570.01-M IA Certification matched to assigned duties.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess a minimum of three to five (3-5) years’ experience in SATCOM Maintenance, that includes two (2) years in a DoD operational program.
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of electronics; hands-on troubleshooting; ability to use test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, volt meters, etc.
  • Trained in information assurance to DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures and perform troubleshooting.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical knowledge and ability to effectively communicate such knowledge verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of available hardware, software, and network products and designs.
  • Must possess excellent oral, written, and graphical communication skills

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge in Air Force Supply System and Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) is preferred.
  • Experience in a C4ISR program
  • Prior experience in a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) working environment.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Active Top-Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD SCI access.
